Patriarch Israel Schumann opens I. Schumann & Co. on East 34th St. in Cleveland, Ohio. This facility would become the first of four headquarters for I. Schumann & Co.
1925
Sam (Bud) E. Schumann joins his father in the family business.
1929
Irving Schumann joins his father and brother at I. Schumann & Co.
1940
I. Schumann & Co. expands and moves to a new East 55th St. location in Cleveland.
1946
I. Schumann & Co. builds a new facility on Bradley Rd. in Cleveland.
1954
Mark P. Schumann, Sam’s son, joins I. Schumann & Co.
1955
I. Schumann & Co. develops the industry exclusive bronze alloy pellets, known as Induct-o-Melt pellets.
1957
Michael A. Schumann, Irving’s son, joins I. Schumann & Co.
1967
I. Schumann & Co. builds new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in the southeastern Cleveland suburb of Bedford.
1968
I. Schumann & Co. becomes wholly owned subsidiary of Ogden Corporation, a publicly-held company, and begins operations in new facility.
I. Schumann & Co. invents the Controlled Process (C.P.), a bottom poured smooth top ingot.
Mark A. Schumann is named president and Irving’s son, Ronald L. Schumann, joins I. Schumann & Co.
1978
The third generation Schumann family repurchases I. Schumann & Co. from Ogden and returns it to a privately-held company.
1981
Anthony I. Schumann, Mark’s son, joins I. Schumann & Co.
1982
David M. Schumann, Mark’s son, joins I. Schumann & Co.
1985
I. Schumann & Co. partners to form Conversion Resources Inc., (CRI).
1986
I. Schumann & Co. opens foundry products division.
1992
I. Schumann & Co. and CRI acquire Warrenton Resources Inc., a fire refined copper ingot plant in Warrenton, Mo.
Scott M. Schumann, Michael’s son, joins I. Schumann & Co. and Michael is named president
1995
I. Schumann & Co. forms employee stock ownership plan (ESOP).
2000
I. Schumann & Co. leads a consortium of trade associations, foundries and ingot makers to invent new non-leaded brass alloy for application known as Enviro Brass.
ESOP purchased by family, benefit distributed to vested employees with third and fourth generation owning and managing the business.
2001
Company recognized with ISO Quality Certification (ANSI/ISO/ASQ Q9001: 2000).
Betsy Schumann, Ronald’s daughter, joins I. Schumann & Co.
2004
I. Schumann & Co. opens an electronic scrap recycling company, Enviro Electronics.
